Why ConvertKit Has My Love
With countless email marketing platforms to choose from, selecting the right one took more brain power than I would have expected.
Each platform promised powerful features, but after using 5 different email marketing tools, and looking at a dozen more, I realized it had to be simple and functional.
There were a lot of options in both categories, but ConvertKit (soon to be Kit) stole the show with best balance on both of them.
This article covers my journey through email marketing platforms.
As you go, here’s a country song to help explain:

My Journey to ConvertKit
Every email marketing platform I used had their own benefits. And while it’s been quite a journey, I found ConvertKit to be the gold standard for email marketing.
It took me a while to land there, but I’m glad I did.
The first platform I tried was Mailchimp, because that’s the name you see everywhere. Who wouldn’t want to check it out if so many other people use it?
It had a wide-range of features that made it powerful, but that also made it feel like an overly complex, corporate machine.
I wanted something a little easier to use, so I kept looking.
Next, I checked out ActiveCampaign because that’s also a name you hear all the time.
But!
Same thing…
Too much emphasis on enterprise-level features makes it feel like it was built for big companies with huge customer bases.
While they are both great for their own purposes, they weren’t what I needed as a solo creator looking for something powerful and user-friendly.
On the opposite side, I gave MailerLite a shot.
I have to say, it’s a clean and simple tool, and I can see why many love it.
If you’re starting out and want something minimalistic, MailerLite might be your go-to. But for me, I saw that minimalism would quickly outgrow it’s convenience.
I needed a platform that could grow with any direction I wanted to go.
Why ConvertKit Stands Out
After testing all these platforms, I finally discovered ConvertKit.
It hit that sweet spot, between ease of use and having every powerful feature you could want.
Unlike the tools that felt too big or small, ConvertKit was just right. It’s designed specifically for creators and content-driven businesses.
If interacting with your customers is part of your business, it has everything you need.
From email templates, to built in automations that make sense, you can smoothly manage an email list of nearly any size.
There are even tagging options to make sure your subscribers get the correct emails, and easy to build landing pages all in the same place.
It really is the easiest way to manage email in 2024.
- Support is always there when I need it.
- The interface is ahead of the curve.
- It’s constantly updated with new features.
And, easily the best part, it’s usable by anyone.
Whether you’re a beginner that doesn’t know what a list is, or veteran creator with thousands of subscribers, you won’t feel lost.
The learning curve is smooth and there are simple courses to get you up to speed in record time.
“We’re Rebranding to Kit” – Uhh, Excuse Me?
Not too long ago, ConvertKit announced its rebrand to Kit.
I will admit, I didn’t like it.
Change is scary. Why fix what isn’t broken?
After the panic died down a bit, I started to get it.
It’s not about the new logo or color scheme–rebranding to Kit shows where their heart really lies with their business.
Any rebrand is bound to get backlash, but they did it for reason.
The rebrand had already happened, they just made it official with a name change.
How had it already happened you ask me?
The idea behind the rebrand is simple yet powerful: being a creator is about more than making money, it’s about creating purpose and meaning.
Kit’s new branding shares this principle loud and proud.
With a modern logo to show the connected value between creators and their audiences, it reminds us that Kit is designed to serve the people behind the content.
They even included a clever nod to creators with the lowercase “i” in the logo.
The rebranding, while nerve wracking, reflects a clear vision and a bold phase for ConvertKit.
I’m glad to be a part of the transformation.
Final Thoughts – Sticking with Kit!
At the end of the day, email marketing tools are deeply personal choices. For some companies, Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign will be the perfect fit, while other people will find MailerLite’s simplicity just what they need.
But for me, Kit has my love.
It’s a balanced, powerful, and supportive ecosystem that grows with my business.
I can’t wait to see where this rebrand takes the platform. I know that Kit will continue to shine as the gold standard for years to come.
