Why QuickBooks Changed the Way I Run My Business

Starting out in business sounds straightforward enough, we all have skills. After all, we get jobs because we’re good at what we do. So why isn’t everyone a business owner?

It turns out, there’s a lot more to running a successful business than just being good at a trade or skill.

The stress? Sure, that’s part of it. But one of the biggest challenges for new business owners is figuring out how to get paid and manage their finances.

When I first started working for myself, I quickly realized that knowing your worth is just one part of the equation. The real test is figuring out how to accept that value.

If you don’t have a solid way to collect payments, outside of things like CashApp or Venmo, it’s hard to sustain a real business. Sure, you can hustle as a handyman or freelancer, but working for yourself means setting up systems that let you focus on what you do best.

This is where QuickBooks made a huge difference for me.

Getting Paid Is The First Step to Business

The moment you have a proper way to accept money, everything changes. Until then, you can’t confidently market your services. How would you accept payment?

When I started out, I wasn’t just looking for a way to collect payments,  I wanted something that would grow with me. That’s what QuickBooks did for me.

It was the next step toward real business ownership.

Instead of worrying about chasing payments or losing track of income and expenses, I could focus on what I do best.

Being Good vs. Being Prepared

There is a lot to be said for being good at what you do. If you’ve got skills, people will notice. But the truth is, being good isn’t enough in business. To really stand out and succeed, you also have to be prepared.

That’s where tools like QuickBooks come in to handle the heavy lifting.

Things like tracking payments, sending invoices, and managing expenses aren’t possible without a proper tool. QuickBooks is that tool.

Growing with QuickBooks: More Than Just Invoicing

Eventually, you’re going to grow. When you do, it’s important to not let the stress grow too.

As my business expanded, so did my needs. Luckily, QuickBooks lets you manage multiple accounts, handle payroll, and even syncing with the other platforms.

The less time you spend on administrative tasks, the more time you have to focus on growth.

Building a QuickBooks-to-Notion Integration

As a Notion developer, I’ve seen firsthand the power of connecting tools to speed up business processes. That’s why I’m building a QuickBooks-to-Notion integration to bring together the beautiful organization of Notion with the functional security of QuickBooks.

This integration will allow business owners to manage their operations, finances, and client data all in one place.

When everything is connected, you can focus on what you do best. And ultimately, that’s what business is all about.
